Deborah Edwards

About the Author

Deborah Edwards is a veteran broadcast journalist, special projects producer, public speaker, activist, and social change performance artist. She was one of the first broadcast journalists to produce a national television feature on Oprah Winfrey in 1986. 

As an activist she has worked to empower women and families for more than twenty-five years around the issues of sexual and domestic violence.  As a visionary and self-described survivor-warrior-healer, she uses theater as a life-affirming tool for social change and personal transformation. She is the author of SPEAKMYNAME: How Black Women Can Overcome Sexual Abuse by Finding Their Voice and Moving into Freedom and Wholeness.
She holds degrees in Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts, Psychology and Theater from Central Michigan University
